Dogs Annual 2020

The Indian National Kennel Club has published the Dogs Annual 2020 magazine for the first time. This magazine has a variety of articles and interesting information on dogs. This being the first issue, will be considered as a collector’s item, keeping in mind the rich history of the club. This is a must have issue for members as well as non-members.

H. H. Maharana Mahipendra Singh of Danta

is the President of The Indian National Kennel Club. He is an experienced Championship Dog Show judge, Horse show judge and has been a successful dog breeder and horse breeder.

Dr. Sarita U. Gulavane

M VSc, Ph D, is a leading veterinarian in the field of canine and feline gynaecology and reproduction. She is currently professor (in charge) Dept. of Animal Reproduction, Gynaecology & obstetrics at Mumbai Veterinary College.

Minal Kavishwar

is the Founder of Animal Angels Foundation, India’s only registered organization working in the field of anial assisted therapy and related activities. Animal Angels Foundation was founded in Mumbai and is currently operational in Mumbai and Bangalore.

Andrea Cyril Khurana

is an Internationally Certificated Groomer from the The Grooming School, Australia. She is a certified Show Groomer from Pets Icon, Malaysia and a Certified Advance Pet Groomer from IPG, USA. Andrea is also an Internationally Certified Grooming Instructor (from AIPG, Australia). She is the President and founder of PPGAI (Professional Pet Groomer’s Association, India) and Proprietor at Petsburgh, Pet Care facilty in Mumbai. She successfully operates an Internationally Certified Pet Grooming Achool, Spa and, Boarding & Daycare center in Andheri West, Mumbai. Andrea has been recognized and applauded by various business and media groups like, Mid-Day, DNA (Daily News & Analysis), Radio City, NDTV, CNBC, and ET Now, for her entrepreneurial contribution to the pet grooming industry in India. She is currently undertaking her International Certified Master Groomer exam with IPA, USA. Andrea is also certified in Pet First Aid (from PetMedics, Australia and AKC, USA) and is a qualified Veterinary Assistant. Her belief is that education is an ongoing process and no one is ever too smart to learn something new, no matter how much experience or education one already has.

Dr. Peter Neville

British Companion Animal Behaviourist, was recently on a lecture tour of India, sponsored by Arden Grange Petfoods. Peter is a Partner of COAPE International a leading provider of exclusively on-line courses in top quality companion animal behaviours and training.

Chetan Vengurlekar

is a digital marketer who runs a digital marketing agency, Sarvi Solutions, which helps brands, companies, products, and services make a sustainable name on the internet with an organic approach.

Adrian Tey Kim Guan

is an all-rounder who has been judging internationally for more than 15 years. He also conducts seminars and writes about dogs and cats for magazine and the press. His assignments have brought him to more than 20 countries globally, including INKC dog shows in India.

Prof. Peerapong Pisitwuttinan

has bred over 200 championed beagles worldwide, including number 1 all breeds, number 1 beagles in Thailand 14 years continuing, number 1 beagle in America, China, Philippine, Indonesia, and Vietnam. He is an all breeds judge who judges worldwide including the world show 2016. He is the lecturer at the Cheingmai University and a guest speaker in many leading universities in Thailand (Chula, Kaset, Kon Kan, and many institutes) China, Russia, and Australia.

Andy Chen

is a breeder and handler of multiple BIS and BISS Bichon Frises, including the sire of the No. 1 Bichon Frise in the US 2018. He is also an international Championship Dog Show judge and has judged an INKC Championship Dog Show.

Ratty Javeri

has been breeding dogs for over 70 years under the kennel name Darbaxco. Darbaxco Kennels has produced a large number of Show Champions over the years. Ratty Javeri is also a well-known all-breeds judge and a founder member and the Honarary Secretary of the Indian National Kennel Club.

Beth Ferrier

(Taeplace Kennels, Perth ON) has bred exhibited Pekingese for over 40 years. She has bred 29 American Champions and 109 Canadian Champions. Of these 3 were awarded Pekingese Club of America Best of Breed; 14 others were awarded WB, WD, BW, BOS at PCA. Beth bred Canadian American Champion Taeplace Monet, achieved Top Dog All Breeds for 2000, with 63 Best in Shows, and still holds the Top Dog Toy points record. Additionally, this bloodline, Brackett’s theory bred, produced the 2011 Top Dog All Breeds for Canada. Beth’s focus has been health based genetics for the best conformation breeding of pheno type. Nigel Aubrey-Jones and William Taylor were her mentors.

Gladys Knox

has owned Pekingese since 1980, exhibited since 2010, Gladys and Beth co-own several dogs as Beth continues the Nigel mentoring process for Gladys. Over 100 books have been written about Pekingese and countless articles. Information in this article is derived from several books in our collection, most notable is The New Pekingese by Nigel Aubrey-Jones, and personal experience of Beth Ferrier (Taeplace Kennel, Perth ON) and Gladys Know (Peking Garden).

A Note From the Editor

There’s no denying that dog enthusiasts are a breed apart. We are passionate about our dogs, their bloodlines, about showing and breeding them. Decades ago, most purebred pups came from show enthusiast breeders – these were pups whose bloodlines had been studied, planned and were therefore bred and reared with the utmost love and care.


Editor Career Biography

Dr. Freya Javeri Kharawala is a graduate of Bombay Veterinary College. She completed her Masters degree from the University of Melbourne, Australia. Besides being a practicing veterinarian for 17 years, she is also a Championship Dog Show judge and has shown and bred Champion German Shepherds, Rough Collies, Pugs, Irish Setters and Rottweilers.
